JR IT Systems Developer

Midwest Groundcovers – St. Charles, IL

Full Time Year Round

Collaborate with users and management of all Midwest Companies to identify opportunities for process improvements and efficiencies through creating and delivering reporting, using applications including SQL Server, Advanced Reporting, and Power BI.  As part of the IT team, provide network, hardware, training, and software support to all users.

Essential Responsibilities:

Programming & Development 

  • Interact with users to develop and implement different processes revolving around technology including, but not limited to, SharePoint, Excel, SSRS, PowerBI, Advanced Reporting, EMF. 
  • Develop & improve SharePoint processes and pages. 
  • Lead IT development projects that will improve efficiencies and workflows throughout the companies. 
  • Develop temporary programs to use until full system implementations are complete. 
  • Coordinate user groups to evaluate processes and determine needs for improvements. 
  • Understand development methodologies such as Agile, Waterfall, or ITIL. 
  • Test, implement, create procedures, and train Midwest Groundcovers staff on new System Development implementations. 

ROSS Application Support & Development 

  • Understand Ross database functionality and department use. 
  • Help investigate, document and log user problems with Ross in order to find a solution. 
  • Work with users to design and implement Ross specifications that will improve the functionality and create efficiencies. 
  • Use programming resources to develop, test, and implement new functionality.
    Participate in Ross user conferences to gain additional insight and provide recommendations to management for evaluation.  

Database Administration 

  • Use SQL Programming to accomplish reporting. 
  • Implement and maintain SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) Packages to support reporting and automation needs. 
  • Ensure data governance with respect to security and integrity to the standards of the company policy. 
  • Develop and maintain SQL stored procedures and functions. 

Knowledge & Skills Required:

  • Microsoft SQL server environment.
  • Verbal Communications – clear, concise, timely, professional.
  • Project Management – achieve company project goals within the given constraints.
  • Strong ability to meet deadlines and document work / develop procedure documentation.
  • Computer Skills – should be aware of hardware, software, network.
  • Programming Skills – PowerShell, Access, Excel, SQL, SRSS, SSIS, HTML, JavaScript, NodeJS.
  • Skill for reviewing and developing processes and using technology to improve results.
  • Organizational – strong skills needed as prioritization of tasks are very important.
  • Customer service skills – both internal and external customers.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with a positive, upbeat, action-oriented attitude.

Preferred Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology or related discipline is preferred.
  • 2-4 years of information technology and project development experience.
  • Experience in horticulture, agriculture, or the green industry is valued.
  • Experience in a family business is valued.
