Comptroller - Midwest Groundcovers - St. Charles, IL

Full Time Year Around

Overall responsibility for Financial and Accounting functions of Midwest Groundcovers.  Support administrative functions for all of the Midwest companies.  Provide management and ownership with accurate and timely financial information to help achieve the annual sales and growth goals at a profit and reach personal and professional goals in the process.

Essential Responsibilities:
Finance Operations:
Responsible for the distribution of month & year-end financial and inventory reporting.
Overall responsibility for general ledger system.
Manage cash flow through control of the check book and operating line of credit.
Manage company-wide accounting through month and year end closing. Support and work with external auditing firm for periodic audits.
Overall responsibility for Cost Accounting system including monthly update of costs and periodic review of General Ledger account distribution.
Plan and initiate the capital and operating budgeting process. Monitor and analyze budget reports and provide management with pertinent information. Mange individual budgets as assigned.
Maintain good relationships and represent the Midwest companies with multiple banks. Understand bank accounts, loans and other banking activities.
Perform sales analysis, profit center analysis and research support for special projects.
Administrative Operations:
Overall responsibility for Administrative Operations including Invoicing, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Payroll and Reception.
Manage payable and receivable operations, including inter-company payments.
Manage customer and vendor credit terms process.
Support administration of EVD program through periodic and annual review.
Manage and facilitate annual workers' compensation payroll audit.
Review and approve sales tax audit submissions. Manage sales tax audits as required.
Review and approve bank reconciliation. Manage company credit cards.
Responsible for trademarks, new and existing, including A-Plant.
Preferred Experience:
8 years management experience in accounting and/or finance operations.
Experience in horticulture or the green industry is valued

Bachelor's degree in business, finance or accounting
