Asclepias tuberosa
Butterfly Weed
Striking bright orange flowers in late summer. Likes full sun, dry and infertile soils. Can be slow to establish and late to come up in spring. Has a taproot which makes division very difficult. Attracts butterflies (loved by monarch larvae) and hummingbirds. Grows best in sand. PPA plant of 2017
