Thuja x 'MGrebild19'
Nordic® Fourth of July Arborvitae
Another cross of T. plicata (Western Cedar) and T. standishii (Japanese), cousin to Nordic® Spire, Thuja Fourth of July was also selected by Anton Thomsen. Thomsen planted an allee of the hybrid at the entrance of the Rebild (pronounced Raybill) National Park in Denmark for the 4th of July celebration in 1999. This celebration has been an annual event since 1912, except during the war years, and now many Danish people regard the 4th of July as a very special holiday. Fourth of July and Nordic® Spire both have a central leader, but branches are more upright on Fourth of July, weeping on Nordic® Spire.
