Water Conservation

Our St. Charles and Virgil nurseries are designed around water reclaimation and conservation.  The sites are graded to move water from the growing areas into retention ponds located throughout the nurseries, then back to the growing areas in the form of irrigation.  Under each greenhouse is a free-draining aggregate base, similar to the base under permeable pavers, which enables water to move downward through the aggregate and into a perforated pipe, through which it makes its way to swales, then to large retention ponds.
